- Huge Heart: The heart of a blue whale is as big as a small car and can weigh up to 1,300 pounds.
- Loud Voices: Blue whales are one of the loudest animals. Their calls can be heard up to 1,000 miles away!
- Big Babies: Baby blue whales are called calves. They are born weighing about 3 tons and are about 25 feet long. They drink their mother’s milk and gain about 200 pounds every day!
- Ocean Travelers: Blue whales live in all the world's oceans except the Arctic. They migrate long distances between feeding and breeding grounds.
- Diet: Even though they are huge, blue whales eat tiny shrimp-like animals called krill. They can eat up to 4 tons of krill a day!
- Speedy Swimmers: Blue whales can swim up to 20 miles per hour when they are excited, but usually, they cruise at about 5 miles per hour.
- Lifespan: Blue whales can live for a long time, often reaching 80 to 90 years old. Some may even live over 100 years!
- Blowholes: Blue whales have two blowholes on top of their head. They use these to breathe and can spout water up to 30 feet in the air when they surface.
